Android Applications

According to our research, Android applications are what Google refers to as the actual programs that the phone will run.  Yes, Google is responsible for the birth of the Android cellular phone, pretty cool, huh?  We thought so, too.  It seems the big “G” can do it all!  When you purchase the phone, there will already be a number of apps, short for applications that will be pre-installed on your device.  These apps include things such as a calendar, an email program, contacts, a web browser, and maps.  Of course, the fun part is actually downloading more of them when you get home!

There is debate over which cell phone is the best and to determine that users more than likely are thinking about which applications are available for which phone.  Not all apps are created equal we must tell you.  That is to say that there are certain ones that are only available for a certain type of phone.  Each phone’s applications are written differently and specifically for that particular phone.  You can however now, find some that are universal and can be downloaded on several different brands and models of phones, which I think is neat.

Google Android SuperpadEvery year for the past couple of years, different websites and places hold contests of polls in order to question the population on what is their favorite or must have Android Applications.  We found by doing a quick search on the internet that many customers found that with over 100,000 apps and counting now, it was certainly hard to choose just one.  In the category of Videos and Music, we found that Qik, a free application was pretty popular and noted for it’s ability to allow users to upload live streaming video footage straight to their phone.  Potentially a soccer mom in Chicago, Illinois could record and broadcast her son’s game to his grandpa in New Mexico if she wanted to.  That’s pretty darn cool if you ask us!  In the category of ‘Productive Apps’ we had to pick the Astrid as our favorite here.  Why?  Well, for one, it’s just so simple and when you’re nothing but busy, simplicity is key.  This great app lets you basically keep a running to-do list of well, all the things you can’t forget to do like pay your rent for one, or feed your dog, or change your oil on your car.  And the best thing about it?  Yep, it’s free.  What more could you ask for?  In our eyes, that’s enough.  Stay tuned for more top picks in the coming days.

Must Have Android Applications

Simply put, there are some must have Android applications that well, like we just said you simply must have!  Did you know that the Android now has over 75,000 apps to choose from?  Yeah, we know it’s still not as many as the Apple app store has, but I mean come on, who wouldn’t be happy with all those to choose from and how many do you really need anyway?  Well, there are some that you simply just can’t live without or at least we can’t anyway, so each day or every other day we’re going to share with you our top picks.

If you love to travel then the app you must have is called TripIt.  Well, we think the name says it all, but in case it doesn’t for you, let me explain exactly what this little lovely app can do for you when it comes time to getting your travel plans organized.  So, let’s say you’ve booked a flight, rented a car for when you get to the airport and then also reserved a hotel room for 2 nights.  Well, you know those nice confirmation emails they send you?  The ones that get lost when all of your other emails come in and bump them down?  Well, that’s what happens to me, at least.  So, take those confirmation emails, forward them to your TripIt app and it will automatically, I mean automatically organize them all into neat little trips for you.  Just pull up the app and you’re ready to go.  How cool is that?  It certainly came in handy for me this past weekend when I traveled to South Florida to go visit my mom.  I haven’t flown in awhile, yeah, it’s not really my thing.  But this app was so convenient because all I had to do was pull up my confirmation email from Delta which showed the confirmation number, punch that in to the self-check in machine, get my boarding passes and off I went.  No more are the days when you need to carry all those papers, all the tickets, etc.  So easy so that’s why it’s one of our must have Android applications.  Stay tuned for more top apps coming soon.

1. Locale – A pretty complicated app, but very user friendly.  It’s one that will manage your various profiles very, very easily.  Basically what it is, is a locations-aware manager for all of your various setting that you have on your phone.  Things such as GPS coordinates, battery level, time, and dates can all easily be scripted with this night app.  Check out their site for more in-depth details on exactly what you can do with it.

Android Applications2. PicSay- Another cool little add on for your Android phone right here.  This thing will allow you to easily and quickly edit photos right from your phone.  Some of the things you can add to your pics are images, hearts or polka dots anyone?  How about some cool speech bubbles or perhaps some stars?  Anything you can thing of, this this will allow you to let it come to life.  If all that is too much for you, it still can do the basic photo editing stuff like play with the contrast, brightness, and tint.  Also, you can rotate and crop images as well if that’s what you’re looking for.

3. iSkoot- Quite possibly our favorite app right here.  It allows you to put Skype on phone and yes it’s still one of the free Android applications that we’re talking about here.  So, if you love Skype and can’t see yourself without it, you’ve got to download this little baby to your phone.  If you’ve changed over from an iPhone to an Android, it’s very similar to their app, so you will find most of the same features and settings.

Well, that’s it for today’s portion of our huge Android applications list!  More to come, so as always stay tuned!
